Ο Στέφανος ή Plughead ξεκίνησε να παίζει μουσική 13 χρόνια πριν, στην Σύρο. Από τότε έχει παίξει σχεδόν παντού, από διάφορα μπαρ, πλατείες χωριών, παραλίες, μνημεία και αυτό-οργανωμένα raves στην Ελλάδα, σε κοιτώνες, party σε σπίτια, street parties, καταλήψεις, πάρκα και θέατρα σε Κοπεγχάγη και Βρυξέλλες. Δύσκολο να ενταχθεί σε κάποιο συγκεκριμένο είδος μουσικής, ευέλικτος, απρόβλεπτος και εκλεκτικός. Οι ταμπέλες δεν λειτουργούν για την περιγραφή των σετ του. Η έκφραση “Free your ass and your mind will follow (or the other way around)“ ταιριάζει καλύτερα. Περήφανο μέλος της οικογένειας Paranoise από το 2010. Στον αέρα του Paranoise με την εκπομπή Nervous Tribe κάθε δεύτερη Πέμπτη 22:00-00:00.
Stefanos aka Plughead started Djing 13 years ago in a small bar, in a small island of the Aegean sea. Since then he has played almost everywhere, from low-key venues, self-organised raves, village squares, ancient monuments and beaches across Greece, to student dorms, house parties, street parties, squats, parks and theaters in Copenhagen and Brussels. Hard to pindown musicaly, versatile, unpredictable and eclectic. “By 2008 dubstep had already left its mark and started to get ugly. In the meantime, a bunch of pioneering small labels in UK have been pushing the boundaries of bass-heavy music further, leaving us clueless as to what the fuck we were listening to. Whether it was house, techno, garage, jungle, dubstep it didn`t matter. We just called it bass.
Between 2008 and 2014 I was buying bass heavy records like crazy. Most of these records never got enough spins in the context they deserve. I was regularly DJing back then, Friday nights. Bass music didn`t do it. The crowd was clueless, the rhythmic signatures too weird to follow, the bosses unhappy. My residency moved in the week days and slowly faded.
This mix is homage to that period, featuring some of my favourite pieces of vinyl from these years. It is titled Origins because productions like these heavily informed the music identity of our radio station and still constitute my main arsenal for club-oriented sets.
